Shoutcast Stream Display

Click icon to see full sized picture. Available on Xstreet SL and in one or our stores in Second Life.

Our Shoutcast Stream Display shows the following information:

  • stream status and broadcasting (source) bandwidth
  • title currently playing
  • number of listeners currently listening to the stream

How to configure the display

  • There is no configuration notecard inside this item. You simply have to enter server name and port number - separated by a color in the object description. After this you have to touch the display once and the script inside will re-read the configuration from the object description field.
Example
Your stream is running at http://stream01.annuna.net:9020/ (example only!)
=> You enter "stream01.annuna.net:9020" in the object description field - without the quotes.

The display will update every 30 seconds. Therefore it will cause no lag to your party.

Automatic update procedure

Every time you rez or restart the display, it checks with our web server whether there is an update available. If you, you will receive the up-to-date version within a few seconds and the outdated version will stop working. You may delete the outdated version (in-world as also from your directory) as the new updated version has the same check mechanism built-in.

Fair use policy

As most of our products also the Shoutcast Stream Display has a fair use policy. As being our valuable customer we give you full modify and copy permissions for our product. On the other hand we expect you not to rezz groups of displays (sure this does not make any sense - but it should be said).

The background of this fair use policy is as follows: The Shoutcast Stream Display is using our web proxy at ANNUNA Technologies in order to fetch the required information from the configured shoutcast server. Misuse (e.g. rezzing large groups of displays) will use up bandwidth and resources in three places: the sim the displays are rezed, the proxy at ANNUNA Technologies, and the shoutcast server being configured. Therefore we have a normal updating interval of 30 seconds which is fast enough and will cause no lag to your party in Second Life.

It is absolutely agreed to be within the usual terms to rez a reasonable number for displays for different locations.

But, griefers be warned: we are able to track the originating key from the displays and will forward this information to Linden Lab if necessary.

Where to buy the display

You can buy the Shoutcast Stream Display in one of our stores in Second Life or you can buy it at Xstreet SL Marketplace.
